Ways to #Resist Trump

Friends keep asking the question on what they can do to #Resist Trump, so I’ve started a list of things that is easy for everyone of us to do.  Please suggest more in comments.

  1. Write letters to your representative
  2. Write emails to your representatives
  3. Call your representatives
  4. Sign petitions supporting resistance causes
  5. Participate in public demonstrations
  6. Participate in demonstrations at your representative’s offices
  7. Participate in demonstrations at neighboring representatives’ offices, especially if they have right-leaning points of view
  8. Donate to Planned Parenthood in honor of your “favorite” right wing politician (https://www.plannedparenthood.org)
  9. Volunteer for Planned Parenthood
  10. Donate to the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) in honor your “favorite” right wing politician (http://naral.org)
  11. Become a member of NARAL
  12. Donate to the ACLU in honor of a right-wing politician (https://www.aclu.org)
  13. If you are a lawyer, provide the ACLU pro-bono legal support
  14. Support an immigrant organizations such as the Immigrant Defense Project (http://www.immdefense.org)
  15. Support smart sanctuary cities
  16. Don’t spread fake new
  17. Call people out who spread fake news
  18. Fact check what you read
  19. Call out “alternative fakes” as bull shit lies
  20. Diversify the media you read to see what others are saying and thinking
  21. Get out of your own echo chamber and have a dialog with people that have alternative views
  22. Speak out against anti-Semitism and islamophobia
  23. Speak out for the rights of our friends and family of the LGBTQ community
  24. Support LGBTQ rights organizations like PFLAG (https://www.pflag.org), the National LGBTQ Task Force (http://www.thetaskforce.org), and The Trevor Project (http://www.thetrevorproject.org)
  25. Join the Sierra Club and join their fight to protect our planet from Trump (http://sierraclub.org)
  26. Contribute to the Trump Investigative Fund at Think Progress (https://thinkprogress.org)
  27. Learn from past histories of resistance and change
  28. Learn from past histories what results when resistance isn’t implemented
  29. Learn how Hitler and the Nazi power used lies, suppression of the press, etc. to implement their vision
  30. Determine what special skills you have and provide pro-bono work.
  31. If you are a lawyer, volunteer from Planned Parenthood, NARAL, ACLU, immigration rights organizations, etc.
  32. If you align with a faith, join an activist church, synagogue, or mosque and participate with them.
  33. Talk about racism
  34. Speak up when you see racism
  35. Support organizations like Showing Up for Racial Injustice (SURJ)
  36. Speak out at your local town/city meetings
  37. Run for office
  38. Read the Indivisible Guide on how to resist (https://www.indivisibleguide.com).
  39. Donate to the Indivisible Guide project run by ActBlue (https://www.indivisibleguide.com)
  40. Boycott all Trump products and properties
  41. Boycott all companies that support right-wing agendas
  42. Write Op-Eds and Letters the Editor of your local papers
  43. Choose an issue important to you, create a website or blog and provide daily updates so people can learn and take their own actions
  44. Learn what it takes to be an investigative journalist and help dig up the facts about political appointees, judges, cabinet members.
  45. Dig up where hypocrisy exists
  46. Make resistance visible through safety pins, bumper stickers, Facebook posts, your Facebook/Twitter profile pictures
  47. Hold politicians accountable to their promises
  48. Bring together groups of your family and/or friends, and come up with ideas you can implement together.
  49. Help Fund raise for one of the many important organizations
  50. Subscribe to main stream media that provide factual reporting
  51. Stay informed
  52. VOTE!
